An experienced webmaster might have already tried it, a newbie might have just thought of it and a large number of people may have never had that idea.
Open-source, software that is used by everyone! Since a lot of php scripts such as wordpress, Joomla, Drupal and lots more are common nowadays, due to the fact they are open-source and free for use, templates and themes for them are developed everyday.
If you have used wordpress even only once, you’ve probably wanted to customize it a little and wanted a free template. Free templates and quality ones are available in hundred nowadays and after a little search you will find an appropriate that suits your needs.
After installing the template, you may probably notice that there are some links-which you are not allowed to remove- in the footer of every page. These links are known as sponsor links and are either links to the template designer’s website or peple who spent money buying that footer link.
And that’s exactly my point! have you ever thought of buying, or let’s say it better, “sponsoring” free templates and themes? You can spend 40 dollars one time fee and if it’s a professional and good theme, you’ll get hundreds of free backlinks when a lot of people use it.
Actually, you may even get good PR backlinks that way because there are lot of website of a sufficient PageRank(around 4) that use free templates for Joomla, Wordpress and others.
There are even designer that for around 70 dollars sell even the “designed by” link and you can add your URL there
Wondering where you can find such templates/themes to sponsor? Visit the DigitalPoint forums and you’ll see lots of offers there! It certainly a worthy investment, you can try it

No the article is not about a new 2,0 version of the well-known service alexa but its future. The improvement in their algorithms makes them actually one of the most competitive services at the moment since i believe it will soon “beat” google’s pagerank.
Alexa has been an alternative to google’s pagerank for years now. Their concept was better though, calculating traffic to show which is the TOP site and not backlinks. Unfortunately, all these years their traffic stats were dependent to the alexa toolbar and even though they had a better concept, they never managed to overcome google’s domination in the area.
That was till now. They claim that their new improved algorithms are calculating traffic in a lot more ways apart from alexa toolbar users and that they will calculate a lot more more website visitors to display actual and more accurate traffic results and rankings.
Could this be the end of google’s pagerank? Google unfortunately seems to have abandoned the google pagerank(they update it rarely…) whereas alexa promises even more often updates!
I, honestly, believe that the only way for google pagerank to “fight” the new alexa ranks is to implement alexa’s concept and apart of backlinks calculate traffic too before it gives out a pagerank number.
Yes, i know, time will show us…
Alexa pagerank…google pagerank…
Probably the two most common ways to caclulate how popular your website is and most times, based on them, calculate the estimate value of a domain name.
However, should we be based on both of them? Or choose the one that depicts reallity and is worthy?
I firmly believe that all webmasters should be based on Alexa PageRank, as it depends on the traffic your website gets and that’s what matters nowadays.
What do you think can get you more money? Traffic or backlinks? Because google’s pagerank is based on the number of backlinks your page has. I think that traffic is what monetizes your website…and who calculates your pagerank according to traffic? Alexa!
I don’t intend to ruin the fame of Google PR, but if you search in various webmaster communities you’ll see the dissapointment of webmasters about the “rare” Google PR(=PageRank) Updates which may take up to several months. Supposing you were dependent on Google PR to put ads on your website or any way you’ve chosen to monetize it, you may had to wait months to start earning any cash…
On the other side, Alexa PR’s updates are very frequent, actually i have seen lots of daily updates(!), and yes, they do depict the reality!
They measure your traffic and after that, according to the results they get, your website receive the appropriate traffic. That’s the reality people! not backlinks, traffic!
Why should a website with 40,000 backlinks(most of them may be bought in a permanent basis and counted by google’s algorythm) with zero content and only a few daily visitors should be considered more valuable than your website, which may have only 300 backlinks but get 1,000 daily visits average??
I honestly think Google has lost the game…it’s policy of pagerank just sounds like insane to me…
